The research will focus on the historical reconstruction of the experiences of civilian victims of war, tracing the passage from the wartime event to the post-war period. Particular attention will be paid to the relationship between constitutional principles, the institutional recognition of rights, and the practices of assistance, protection and compensation developed in response to the needs of those affected. The researcher will undertake systematic archival research on the documentary holdings of the National Association of Civilian War Victims, supplemented, where appropriate, by consultation of other relevant archives and documentary repositories.
