Applicants of any nationality may apply. The €5,000 equity prize is for a host in a listed developing region, and the foundation’s list includes Africa.

A degree in medicine, biology, pharmacy, biotechnology, or bioengineering is required. Applicants must be under 40 on the deadline. Professors in permanent positions cannot apply.

Seven fellowships of €32,000 cover salary and mobility for 12 months, before taxes and duties. Bench fees and host overheads are not covered. A separate €5,000 prize is for a project hosted in a listed developing country.
