Sigma Xi's Grants in Aid of Research give undergraduate and graduate students of any nationality small grants for research equipment, supplies and travel to a research site. Non-members can receive up to 1,000 US dollars. The spring 2027 form opens on 15 December 2026 and closes on 15 March 2027 at midnight Pacific Time.
Who can apply
Nationality
Sigma Xi says U.S. citizenship and residence are not required and international applications are welcome, so a Tunisian student enrolled at a university in Tunisia or abroad can apply.
Studies
You must be enrolled in a degree programme as an undergraduate or graduate student. Graduating seniors must finish the research before they graduate.
Membership
Sigma Xi membership is not required, but non-members can receive up to 1,000 US dollars, while members can receive more.
Funding and what it does not cover
Non-members can receive up to 1,000 US dollars. Members can receive 500 to 5,000 US dollars (graduate) or 500 to 2,000 (undergraduate). Astronomy projects can receive up to 5,000 and vision research up to 2,500, whatever the membership.
