In short

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) recruits Arabic–English interpreters for 12-month field missions in the Near and Middle East, through a continuous global deployment roster. Candidates need C1 Arabic and C1 English and two years of work experience. The ICRC never posts staff in their own country. The ICRC jobs site lists 31 December 2027 as the closing date.

Who can apply

Nationality
The ICRC sets no nationality condition for this roster, so Tunisians can apply. Under its neutrality principle, the ICRC does not assign staff to their own country, so a Tunisian would not be posted in Tunisia.
Languages
C1 level in both Arabic and English. Other ICRC languages, such as French, Spanish or Russian, are a strong asset.
Experience
Two years of professional experience. Interpreting or translation experience and a degree in interpretation or translation are an advantage.
Conditions
A driving licence for manual cars, good health and a medical check before departure, and acceptance of unaccompanied postings for the first two missions (24 months in all).

Funding and what it does not cover

Interpreters are paid ICRC staff on 12-month maximum-term contracts at level B2. The ICRC does not publish the salary and mentions social benefits and training.

Covered

  • A paid 12-month contract, extendable
  • A two-week orientation course and further in-house training
  • A place in the ICRC talent pool for later missions
