IMPRS for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS)

In short

The International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart and Tübingen recruits doctoral students for its 2027 round in AI, machine learning, robotics, computer vision and related fields. Applications close on 15 November 2026, end of day anywhere on Earth. Admitted students are paid through an employment contract.

Who can apply

Nationality

IMPRS-IS trains students from around the world and sets no nationality condition. A Tunisian master's graduate can apply.

Degree

A master's degree, conferred or expected soon, in engineering, computer science, cognitive science, mathematics, control theory, neuroscience, materials science, physics or a related field.

English

TOEFL scores or other evidence, such as study, work or a thesis in English, for non-native speakers. GRE scores are optional.

Application

CV, transcripts, a two-page motivation letter, preferred faculty and three referees whose letters arrive by the deadline.

Funding and what it does not cover

Admission is competitive. Selected students are funded through an employment contract under the rules of the Max Planck Society and the two universities. IMPRS-IS pays interview travel.
