In short

Kaira Looro 2027 asks students and young architects to design a 700 m² primary health centre for rural southern Senegal, built with earth, timber, stone and iron. Teams of one to five, with at least one member aged 35 or under, register from 8 January 2027 (60 euros early, up to 120 euros late). Projects are due on 6 June 2027 at 23:59 London time. First prize is 6,000 euros and an internship at Kengo Kuma and Associates.

Who can apply

Country
Balouo Salo's terms open the competition to anyone who registers, with no country restriction, so Tunisian students and architects can enter.
Age and team
Every participant must be 18 or over; teams have one to five members, and at least one member must be 35 or under at registration.
Language
English is the official language. Projects in another language, or files named against the rules, are excluded.

Funding and what it does not cover

Prizes of 6,000, 2,000 and 1,000 euros, each with an internship at a known practice. Registration is a donation of 60 to 120 euros per team plus 4%.

  • 2,000 euros and an internship at EMBT, Adjaye Associates or SBGA for second place
