The Hansen Leadership Institute brings young leaders from many countries, many of them from regions of conflict, to the United States for three weeks of training in ethical leadership, mediation and international cooperation, from 29 June to 20 July 2027. The Fred J. Hansen Foundation pays airfare, room, board and programme costs. International applicants apply by 15 January 2027.
Who can apply
Nationality
HLI runs a separate track and deadline for international applicants and publishes no list of eligible countries, so Tunisians apply in the international track. Its alumni map counts two fellows from Tunisia.
Age
Applicants must be at least 20 and not yet 26 on 1 July 2027.
Studies
At least one year of college or university completed by the time of application. Applicants who are no longer enrolled must have graduated in 2025 or 2026.
English
An academic referee confirms the applicant's English through a questionnaire HLI sends to them. No test score is asked for.
Funding and what it does not cover
The Fred J. Hansen Foundation funds the programme in full, including international airfare, room and board and all programme costs. Fellows pay for their passport and their own spending money. No amounts are published.
