Canada Postdoctoral Research Award (CPRA) — federal postdoctoral funding that replaced the Banting fellowship

Canada's federal research agencies pay CAD 70,000 a year for 24 months to postdoctoral researchers. It replaced the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships, which no longer take applications. International applicants need a Canadian link (a PhD from, or current PhD or postdoc at, a Canadian institution); up to 20% of awards go to them. NSERC's 2026 deadline is 17 October.

Criteria stated by the funder on the official source.

Nationality
Canadian citizens, permanent residents and protected persons, plus international applicants who are registered in, or completed, a doctoral or health professional degree at a Canadian institution, or are doing postdoctoral research at one. Up to 20% of awards go to international applicants. Tunisia is not named.
