In short

UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, fills its internships in offices around the world from a global roster. The 2026 roster is open until 31 December 2026, 23:59 New York time. Students from their second year of a first degree, postgraduate students and recent graduates can join. Interns without outside funding receive a monthly stipend.

Who can apply

Studies
Enrolled in a first degree after one full academic year, enrolled in a postgraduate programme, graduated and able to start within one year, or in a postgraduate professional traineeship.
Languages
Written and spoken English or French, plus fluency in the official language of the UNFPA office: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish.

Funding and what it does not cover

Interns who receive no financial support from a university, government or other party are eligible for a stipend toward living expenses. UNFPA does not publish the amount, which varies by duty station and is paid in local currency at the end of each month.
