Scholarships for specialised bachelor, master or continuing education in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Tunisia is on the official 32-country list. Apply on GIRAF, not through Opporiva. The 2027–28 call closed on 18 September 2026, 12:00 Belgian time; ARES announces the next call for August 2027.

The ARES 2027-2028 call covers one economy-class return trip per academic year, a subsistence allowance (a monthly package for 12 months plus a reduced 13th month for the specialised bachelor and masters; a monthly allowance for the length of continuing training) and insurance, which ARES pays directly. The ARES page also lists tuition fees for the specialised bachelor and masters (not itemised in the call PDF). Exceptional visa costs are included in the allowance up to €200, with any excess refunded on proof. Travel between institutions is covered up to €250 on actual costs. Continuing-training grantees receive a fixed €200 for travel-related fees. The monthly allowance amount is not published: to be confirmed.

Permanent residence and work in Tunisia, a degree no older than 20 years when the course starts (plus one year per childbirth or adoption), at least two years of relevant experience after your last degree, and no previous ARES grant in Belgium.
The 2027-2028 call is closed (applications until 18 September 2026, 12:00 Belgian time). ARES says the next call is in August 2027; exact dates to be confirmed.
ARES validation takes a few hours to a few days, and new account creation is suspended two weeks before the deadline. An account used in the last two years can be reused.
Applications missing any mandatory attachment are not processed. Ask your employer and referees early.

After 'Submit my application' the file can no longer be changed. For the 2027-2028 call, selection runs from October 2026 to May 2027, with results e-mailed by June 2027 at the latest.
Tunisia is named among the 32 eligible countries in the 2027-2028 call. You apply directly to ARES through the GIRAF platform; the call does not mention any step through a Tunisian ministry or the Belgian Embassy for selection. You must be a permanent resident of Tunisia and work there, so people already living in Belgium or elsewhere do not fit the profile. The call asks for certified copies, so we suggest having your degrees and transcripts certified in Tunisia by an authorised office and checking whether Arabic documents need a translation, since the call does not say. The employer's commitment to take you back after the course is mandatory; request it several weeks ahead. The form must be completed in the course language (check it on each course's page), and you need good written and spoken command of it. Common mistakes: creating a GIRAF account too late, applying for more than one course, or sending an incomplete file, which is not processed. If selected, look into the Belgian student visa procedure from Tunis. Applying is free: ARES never asks for payment. Opporiva never applies on your behalf.
