Criteria stated by the funder on the official source.

Nationality
Applicants must be citizens of an African country; the FAQ says citizens of any African country are eligible no matter where they live. Tunisia is not named individually but is covered as an African country.

Between 19 and 29 in the year of applying, and under 30 when taking up the scholarship.

An undergraduate degree with excellent results (above 70% or upper-second class) completed by 1 January 2028. Applicants must also secure admission to a South African university themselves.

Funding and what it does not cover

Tuition and registration fees are paid to the university; the Foundation pays allowances it sets for study materials, accommodation and meals, medical aid and personal costs, plus economy flights from the home country at the start and end of studies. Research and conference grants can be requested.
