On 1 September of the application year: 18 to 26 for bachelor's and master's study, 23 to 35 for doctoral study.

Funding and what it does not cover
For 2026/27 the ministry lists a monthly scholarship of EUR 700 for bachelor's, master's and the language year, or EUR 1,100 for PhD study; EUR 100 on starting and EUR 200 on completing study in Slovakia; and a monthly public-university stipend of EUR 80 (EUR 240 for PhD). Performance bonuses may be paid a year in arrears.
