How to apply

  1. Check the criteria

Confirm the age limit (under 21 for bachelor's, under 30 for master's, under 35 for PhD) and minimum grades (70%, 75% for graduate study, 90% for medicine, dentistry and pharmacy).

  2. Watch for the 2027 announcement

The official calendar sets the application period at 10 January – 20 February; exact 2027 dates are not published yet (to be confirmed on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr).

  3. Create your TBBS account

Register on the official system at tbbs.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr. Registration is free and you apply online.

  4. Upload your documents

Add your ID, photo, diploma and transcripts, and ideally evidence of extracurricular activities and achievements.

  5. Choose your programmes

Rank up to 12 university and department choices, checking the teaching language and required tests for each.

  6. Write the letter of intent

Write a personal letter explaining your choices, expectations and career plans; avoid copied templates.

  7. Submit before the deadline

Review every stage, then approve the application in the system; an application that is not approved is not assessed.

  8. Prepare for test and interview

Shortlisted candidates have a 15–30 minute interview; bachelor's candidates first sit a 30-question test (60 minutes) on the same day. Bring the documents and certificates from your latest completed education.

Documents to prepare

  • Valid national ID card or passport
  • Recent photo (taken within the last year)
  • National exam results, such as the baccalauréat (if any)
  • Diploma or temporary graduation certificate
  • Transcripts
  • International test results (GRE, GMAT, SAT…) if your chosen programme requires them
  • Language certificate (TOEFL, DELF…) if your chosen programme requires it
  • Research proposal and a sample of research writing (PhD only)
  • Letter of intent written in the system
  • Evidence of extracurricular activities and awards (recommended)

From Tunisia

Tunisian applicants are eligible: the official criteria page opens the scholarship to citizens of all countries. You apply directly online through the TBBS system, with no intermediary, and registration is free. The pages checked do not say where the test and interview for Tunisian candidates take place; this comes with the invitation (to be confirmed for 2027). For documents, the platform asks for uploaded scans and does not mention legalisation or sworn translation at the application stage; to be safe, check each university's requirements; candidates invited to interview must bring the documents and certificates from their latest completed education. The grade threshold is a percentage, so enter your mark out of 20 and your institution's grading scale accurately. Many programmes are taught in Turkish; every grantee without a C1 Turkish certificate takes a one-year course and must reach C1. Programmes taught in English or another language require an internationally recognised language certificate (TOEFL or an equivalent the university accepts). Common mistakes: going over the age limit, a generic letter of intent, programme choices that do not match your background, and not approving the application before the closing date (20 February in the 2026 cycle; the 2027 date is to be confirmed). Opporiva is free and never applies on your behalf.
