Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) lets temporary workers in in-shortage construction occupations take their apprenticeship training without a study permit. You need a valid work permit, a job offer in an eligible construction occupation, and an apprenticeship agreement with that employer registered with the provincial or territorial authority. The public policy runs from 26 February 2025 to 26 February 2027.
Who can apply
Nationality
IRCC sets no nationality condition. A Tunisian qualifies once they hold a valid Canadian work permit, a job offer in an in-shortage construction occupation and a registered apprenticeship agreement.
Conditions
A valid work permit, a job offer in a construction occupation identified as in shortage, and an apprenticeship agreement with that employer registered with the provincial or territorial authority.
Funding and what it does not cover
The policy is an exemption, not a payment. Pay comes from the employer under the job offer and is not set by IRCC.
Covered
Apprenticeship training without a study permit while the approval lasts
