Funding and what it does not cover

Exchanges are unpaid. In return for a participation fee, the host provides the clerkship or research placement, accommodation (student housing or a host family) and, per IFMSA's SCOPE page, at least one meal a day; a social programme is often included. Travel is not mentioned as covered.
