In short

The International Fund for Agricultural Development takes students and recent graduates aged 30 or under for six-month paid internships in Rome and in its country offices. Applications are accepted at any time through a standing posting. The monthly allowance is capped at 800 US dollars, and interns from recipient member countries such as Tunisia get a higher allowance and a travel lump sum.

Who can apply

Nationality
IFAD's handbook says the people it engages must be nationals of an IFAD Member State. Tunisia is a member, on List C (sublist C1, Africa), so a Tunisian can apply and counts as coming from a recipient member country.
Studies and age
Aged 30 or younger, and either enrolled with at least two years of undergraduate study and courses in the last 24 months, or graduated from undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the last 24 months.
Language
Fluent English. Arabic, French or Spanish is an asset and may be required for some assignments.

Funding and what it does not cover

The allowance is 10 percent of the duty station's daily subsistence allowance, capped at 800 US dollars a month. Interns from recipient member countries who move for the internship get 14 percent, including a housing element, and a travel lump sum of up to 3,000 US dollars.

  • Monthly allowance of 10 percent of the daily subsistence allowance, up to 800 US dollars
  • For interns from recipient member countries who move: 14 percent of the daily subsistence allowance, with a housing element
  • For those interns: a one-time travel lump sum of up to 3,000 US dollars
  • IFAD medical insurance, with 1.325 percent deducted from the allowance

You pay

  • Travel for interns who are not from a recipient member country, unless a sponsor pays
