Internships of two to six months (up to eight full-time) with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, at its Geneva headquarters, its Amman, Budapest and Copenhagen service centres or country offices. Open to all nationalities. Interns without outside funding get a monthly allowance and return travel; vacancies are posted year-round.

The UNHCR internships page states: 'Internships are open to all nationalities.' Applicants with a refugee or stateless background are welcome.

A current student in an undergraduate or graduate programme, or a graduate of the past two years, from a UNESCO-accredited institution, with at least two years of undergraduate study completed in a relevant field.

Funding and what it does not cover

Interns without outside funding get a monthly allowance for food, local transport and living costs: 50% of the GS-3 step 1 net monthly salary in 'H' duty stations and 70% elsewhere (half for part-time). Remote internships are also paid. Return travel is reimbursed for interns engaged from outside the duty-station country, unless a sponsor pays.
