Academia Sinica's Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) takes PhD applications worldwide for fall 2027 from 1 November 2026 to 1 February 2027, 23:59 Taiwan time. Students receive a tax-free stipend of NT$40,000 a month in the first year, which can be extended for one more year for good performance.

Nationality
TIGP says its fall 2027 admission is open to applicants worldwide. A Tunisian graduate applies on the same terms as anyone else.
Degree
A bachelor's and/or master's degree in science, arts or a related discipline, with post-secondary transcripts.
English
TOEFL iBT 79-80 or IELTS Academic 5.5 overall, taken within two years. A degree taught entirely in English can waive the test.
Application
Three reference letters and a statement of purpose. The GRE is optional. Only one TIGP programme per applicant.
Funding and what it does not cover
TIGP pays a tax-free stipend of NT$40,000 a month (NT$34,000 plus NT$6,000) in the first year. It is extended for one more year for students who perform well. After that, funding depends on the thesis advisor.
