Criteria stated by the funder on the official source.
Nationality
Open to international candidates; applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Tunisia is not named, and no nationality other than Chinese is excluded.
StatedEducation
At least a bachelor's degree in any field, or finishing one with the diploma awarded by August of the enrolment year; concurrent enrolment in another degree is not allowed.
StatedAge
No strict age cut-off, but the FAQ states that, apart from Zhuoyue Scholarship recipients, no one over 29 has been admitted; the average entry age is 23.
StatedLanguage
IELTS Academic 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100 or Cambridge English 185, taken after 1 September 2025 and sent directly by the testing body; waived for native English speakers and graduates of English-taught degrees.
StatedFunding and what it does not cover
Every admitted scholar receives the first-year Yenching Fellowship: tuition, accommodation in the Yenching Academy House, basic medical insurance, a monthly stipend, one round trip between a city in the scholar's country and Beijing, and research/field study costs. A second-year fellowship can be applied for.
