Canada's federal research agencies pay CAD 40,000 a year for up to 36 months to doctoral students. It replaced the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships, which no longer take applications. International students can apply only once registered in a PhD at a Canadian institution; up to 15% of awards go to them.

Who can apply
Criteria stated by the funder on the official source.
Nationality
Canadian citizens, permanent residents and protected persons, plus international applicants who are registered in a doctoral programme at an eligible Canadian institution by the deadline. Up to 15% of awards go to international applicants. Tunisia is not named.
StatedStage of study
No more than 36 months of full-time equivalent study in the doctoral programme by 31 December of the year of application; a predominantly research-oriented doctoral programme.
StatedOther restrictions
One tri-agency training application per academic year, at most three CGRS D applications, and no previous CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC doctoral award (including a Vanier).
StatedFunding and what it does not cover
The CGRS D is valued at $40,000 per year for a duration of 36 months. Additional awards may go to applications in priority research areas.
