Université de Montréal exemption scholarship — reduced tuition for international students

The Université de Montréal automatically reduces the extra tuition charged to international students admitted to a bachelor's, master's or doctoral programme. PhD students pay the Québec rate. No separate application: you are assessed when you apply for admission. French and francophone Belgian students are excluded; Tunisians are not.

Criteria stated by the funder on the official source.

Nationality
Open to international students 'à l'exception des personnes candidates françaises ou belges francophones'. No other nationality is excluded, so Tunisian students are eligible.

An offer of admission to a degree programme (bachelor's, master's or doctorate) with full-time study throughout. Free studies and short programmes (certificate, minor, microprogram, preparatory year) do not qualify.

Study authorisations
You must hold a valid Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) and a valid study permit for every term of the programme; the registrar asks you to upload them in your Centre étudiant.

At bachelor's level the academic record is the only criterion and sets level A or B; records below level B get no award. Master's and doctoral amounts are fixed by programme type.

The exemption is deducted from tuition. 2026-27 full-time values: bachelor's level A $14,436 or level B $6,879.60 a year; master's $15,916.05 (research) or $11,334.60 (other) a year; doctorate $24,067.80 a year, a full exemption of the international supplement.
